Overview

At Dr. Sargar Heart Care and Diagnostics, we provide comprehensive Paediatric Cardiac Surgical Services with a focus on precision, compassion, and long-term well-being. Under the expert care of Dr. Sayajirao Sargar, children with congenital heart defects receive world-class treatment through both open and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Sargar combines clinical excellence with a child-focused approach, ensuring the best outcomes even in complex cardiac conditions. Below are some of the key paediatric heart surgeries we offer:

  • ASD (Atrial Septal Defect):
Surgical or minimally invasive closure of the hole between the heart’s upper chambers. Timely intervention prevents complications such as arrhythmias, heart enlargement, and pulmonary hypertension.

  • VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect):
Repair of the hole between the lower chambers of the heart. VSDs can cause excessive blood flow to the lungs, leading to heart failure if untreated. Surgery restores normal circulation and heart function.

TOF is a complex congenital heart condition involving four anatomical abnormalities. Complete surgical repair includes:

  • Closing the ventricular septal defect (VSD)

  • Relieving right ventricular outflow tract obstruction

  • Correcting associated anomalies

Early surgical correction greatly improves oxygenation and helps children lead near-normal lives.

PDA is a persistent fetal vessel that fails to close after birth, leading to abnormal blood flow between the aorta and pulmonary artery.

  • PDA ligation involves tying off the ductus to stop the abnormal circulation.

  • It is a straightforward procedure with excellent recovery in infants and young children.

  • APVC (Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection):
All pulmonary veins drain into the right atrium instead of the left. Surgical repair involves redirecting veins to the correct chamber to restore normal oxygenated blood flow.

  • PAPVC (Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection):
Only some veins are incorrectly connected. This condition is repaired by rerouting the affected veins to the left atrium.

  • DORV (Double Outlet Right Ventricle):
A complex defect where both the aorta and pulmonary artery arise from the right ventricle. Surgical correction involves closing the VSD and routing blood flow appropriately between ventricles and arteries.

  • TGA (Transposition of the Great Arteries):
The aorta and pulmonary artery are switched, disrupting oxygen flow.
Surgery (commonly the arterial switch operation) restores the correct anatomical connections and allows the heart to function normally.

Some children are born with only one functional ventricle. These complex cases are managed with staged surgical procedures over time:

  • Stage 1: Norwood Procedure

  • Stage 2: Bidirectional Glenn Shunt

  • Stage 3: Fontan Procedure

These surgeries are carefully planned to optimize heart function and improve long-term quality of life.
